Title:Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah by George Handel (1605-1759) Composer: GF Handel Background info:This music is from the baroque era in musical history. Messiah is an oratorio by Handel. It was first performed in Fishamble Street, Dublin in 1742.It was composed in just 24 days. An oratorio is a piece of music composed for soloists, choir and orchestra based on a biblical text. It features instrumental overtures, arias, recitatives and choruses. It was performed without scenery, costumes or acting. Tchaikovsky is a Russian composer who took some of the music he composed for his ballet The Nutcracker and arranged it into a suite to be performed in a concert setting. A suite is a collection of dances.
